Unusual Christmas party ideas and team building activities for your company – Charleston Dance

I’ve recently started to get asked whether I could use Charleston dance to liven up company meetings, provide dancers for your company 1920s Christmas parties, or company team building events. If you’re looking for unusual team building activities, and wondering how dance, or indeed 1920s or vintage dance classes could help you and provide a unique experience for you and your employees, read on for Charleston Dance workshops that I have developed.

Do get in touch via the Charleston Dance website if you’d like to find out more or make a booking. I’m working with the Hotel Du Vin chain providing a vintage jazz pianist and vintage musicians in Cheltenham in Cheltenham and Henley on Thames (if you’re looking for a workshop in Oxfordshire or the West Country). Equally, Malmaison Oxford has suitable rooms and we have put together packages that incorporate lunch or afternoon tea to suit your group.

Movers and shakers workshop: Have fun at your Christmas do or your company meeting, vintage style! Learn a repertoire of jazzy, authentic 1920s moves and gain confidence at chaining them together.

Charleston Dance Troupe: After getting the hang of some 1920s moves, your group can work together to learn and perform their own specially choreographed 1920s style dance routine.

Team building and confidence workshop: Both men and women danced the Charleston as an improvised dance form, and used their personalities to create their own ways of moving. After learning a repertoire of 20s dance moves, participants will be encouraged to identify their own “signature style”. Everyone will have a chance to improve their spontaneity and creativity through developing their own variations on moves, and through choreographing short signature sequences in pairs and groups. For an added, light-hearted challenge and some team and confidence building, the session can end with the group taking part in a “Charleston Dance Off.”
