One of my favourite artists from the 20s is Jeanne Mammen. She drew wonderful scenes from nightclubs in the 20s in Berlin, and sketches and paintings which summed up the ambiance of that era and the personalities. Some of my favourites of her work capture scenes from the lesbian nightclubs in Berlin, including this one, below. Wonderful and evocative.
She changed her style a lot throughout her lifetime, constantly developing as an artist. She drew people of all walks of life, without condececension or malice.
