I never did write about a vintage wedding near Reading that we did some time ago! it was in a charming village hall and we sent two Reading Charleston dancers to perform and do a Charleston dance class for the wedding guests and our wonderful Charleston band of vintage musicians.
It was a lovely vintage wedding, and a village hall wedding. Now it’s lovely to have a front led Charleston dance class at a wedding. But the space was limited – however the Charleston dancers got around this – they rotated the guests in the small space in a group of about 20 so that everyone could take part, and these guests really were up for it! Even those at the back came forwards to have a go. Our wonderful teacher Anna told the guests who’d just done the first part of the class to go off and each tap some other guest on the shoulder and send them forwards to have a go – and they actually did get up! It was a risky strategy – what if they’d been reluctant? But Anna is never phased and always infectious in her enthusiasm. You can’t help but get into the spirit.
The dancers did a wonderful Charleston dance performance which really went down well! Then they joined in with the party and get everyone shaking an arm and Charleston kicking a leg and knocking their bees knees and hopping their hitch hikers. It really was a lovely dance floor!
Charleston poses in a circle, now that’s the kind of fun and involvement at a wedding that we like to see! Have a look at our facebook page Vintage hen parties for more… And here is one of our Charleston dancers getting the guests Charlestoning hard.. Also find Charlestondancevintagehen on instagram
